Unknown woman - National Gallery London
There are plenty of interesting exhibitions away from the big glossy shows.
Imagined Lives: portraits of unknown people
14 portraits from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Most of these seem to have been wrongly attributed somewhere along the line so the identity and life story of the sitter is unknown. The portraits include one of a of woman deliciously described by the NPG as ‘Unknown woman, formerly known as Mary, Queen of Scots’. Who could resist ? National Portrait Gallery London on until 22 July 2012.
